Can anyone link me to a site describing the techniques used by a Japanese artist?

Asked by DrasticDreamer (23996points) April 9th, 2009

I have to write an essay for my art class and one of the things we’re supposed to describe in it is the process/technique the artist uses for whatever two prints we choose.

I’ve tried searching for things online, but I can find nothing which describes specific techniques used for any of his prints I’ve looked up.

If anyone can or is willing to help, his name is Kitagawa Utamaro. He mostly used woodblocks, but I need more, specific detail.

If you’re able to provide a link, thank you in advance!

I hope these links aren’t stuff you’ve already seen. Good luck on your essay!

You rule! Thank you! :) I’d been to the bottom two, but not the top one, which is absolutely perfect.

@DrasticDreamer I’m so glad PnL could help. I asked my son (he loves all things Japanese) but he had no idea. Good luck!
