What song are you listening to right this second, and how does it have an effect on you?

Asked by Zen (7748points) April 11th, 2009

Music soothes the savage beast, right? Why are you listening to the song all the way til the end? What are you getting from it, or are you just too lazy to pick up the needle, or ff, or turn the dial, or… you know.

Mix of 80’s pop music while I wait for my car at the dealership. I’m sitting alone and it’s raining outside. I feel sad. Not the “I wanna cry” sad but the “there is no end” sad.

Haha. Disclaimer: They moderated, but left your initial answers(about Chris). Anyone joining now: There is no Chris. LOL!!!

I’m listening to “Eye of The Tiger” right now. My iPod’s on shuffle and it just came on. This song always makes me kind of laugh when I hear it becuase it’s just one of those songs. It makes me feel happy, I think.

global_nomad's avatar

@zen: You got the eye of the tiger and the IQ of a limabean. Haha.

See the Light by Earth, Wind and Fire
No needle to move or button to push since it just got stuck on repeat in my head after I got back from the store a little while ago.

Got to go out to Best Buy now, so maybe when I get back it will be Happy Feelin’ by the same. Sure I could change the cd, but why?

Zen's avatar

@global_nomad I’m stuck on you nonetheless, despite my i.q. (I have a high e.q.)

I’m currently listening to “Sunshine on my Shoulders” by John Denver and it is keeping me mellow and happy until I leave for work in about 45 minutes.

Hahaha; I’m actually listening to my 14yo son play Black Magic Woman on the electric guitar. It’s a rustic, yet earnest effort and I’m actually rather enjoying it! Oh wait, now he’s switched over to Stairway to Heaven – I’m having a high school flashback!

Listening to Re-Align by Godsmack. Not a new song, but it came up on my song shuffle in iTunes the other night and I’ve been listening to it lots. I prefer the acoustic version.

Go Easy on Me by Dusty Springfield

This is from the first Dusty album I bought, the very one that got me hooked on Dusty. It’s from the album “A very Fine Love” and there isn’t a single song on it that I don’t like. Highly recommended!

You could take that entire song as a metaphor.

I’m listening to “Let’s Not Shit Ourselves” by Bright Eyes.
iTunes is on shuffle and this song came on. Listening to it always seems right. I think of it as a timeline of human behavior, doubt, reality, and expectations.
