What do you never forget to take with you on every trip, and what do you always forget and get ticked off afterwards because you had forgotten it?

Asked by Zen (7748points) April 13th, 2009

Trips are fun. Camping, trekking, spa-ing, skiing. There are five “I’s” in the word skiing, but I got tired, so anyway… I always forget little things: cash, passport, insurance, but I never forget my swiss army knife (Farmer 65 model). YOU?

I usually forget a camera. I go camping enough that I have that under control. For international travel I have found that as long as I have my passport and my wallet I am set.

I spent a month in Europe and laughed so much when I met my traveling buddies at the airport. We were backpacking. Both had huge bags. We had had to lug this crap around on foot. Julies bag was 35 pounds. She brought two pairs of boots. Aaron was at about 20 pounds. At least he had travel guide books. My bag was seven pounds. I didn’t even bring shaving stuff. I just bought what I needed along the way and threw it away after I was done with it. Amazing, you can buy a razor and shaving cream in London.

I never forget to take plenty of shoes and I always forget to take the shoes that I really ended up needing. (Any excuse to go shopping!)

We just returned from a 7800k trip from north end of Australia to south and back. Before we left I downloaded a camping check list from the internet and it was great, we had everything we needed.

But our business is in a little tourist town 250 k from next nearest town and people are always coming in looking for phone chargers, instruction books or help with camera, no radio stations so need to be able to play mp3 thru radio in car, mozzie spray just to name a few.

I forget a hat for my bald head every damn time I go to Florida. I now have about 5 or 6 different Walt Disney World hats.

Usually forget – cd collection (no Ipod hookup in the car)
bathing suit
Never forget – birth control!

Zen's avatar

@MrItty Laughed. I am also bald.

@bananafish Whenever I forget my “ipod” (though I actually like the ipod, it isn’t generic – yet!) – I listen more to my kids, and nature.

Then I thank the lord that I can hear. Period.

(Seen people who don’t have that sense – thus I appreciate it even more.)

I never forget:
my little table fan
camera
phone charger

One time we went on a 3 day trip. Of all things, I walked off without my make-up bag. To make it worse, it had my hubby’s meds in it. I had to find a Walgreen’s & buy the basics of my make-up. I got real creative. I used my lipstick from my purse for blush. I never did THAT again! I now check & double check everything before we leave the house.

Zen's avatar

@jbfletcherfan Knowing you a little bit (to know you is to love you); the make-up only enhances, but doesn’t conceal – the beauty within.

Nuff said.

@Zen I think I’m getting a case of the vapors

I rarely forget to pack something, when going on a trip. I forget to bring all my stuff home though. That’s worse :( I left my necklace at the hotel on our last trip, and clothes on the one before that. I don’t know how I could forget to repack everything!

I always forget Q-Tips.

Judi's avatar

@jbfletcherfan ; Lipstick works great for blush if you user a little foundation make=up to blend it. I forget my make-up often too.

jbfletcherfan's avatar

@Judi It’s funny how we can forget one of the most important things that we have to have.

Judi's avatar

@jbfletcherfan ; It gives me a reason to buy more!

jbfletcherfan's avatar

@Judi LOL, that’s true. No guilt there. ’-)

Ladies, the make-up, Mac, or Nivea question is over there >>> This is the “what do you forget to bring on the trip Q.

Thanks.

My pillow. Using a different pillow gives me terrible neck-aches. If I forget it, I have to use a towel, folded 2 or 3 times, to get it the right thinness.

Zen's avatar

@filmfann Towels are very, very important.

And thanks for all the fish.

filmfann's avatar

Too true! Always know where your towel is!

jbfletcherfan's avatar

@filmfann I agree with the pillow thing. I have a firm travel pillow that goes with me everywhere. Those hotel pillows are flatter’n a flitter! I give all 3 to my husband. I also have to have something to support my neck.
