Best URL shortener?

Asked by bluedoggiant (648points) April 15th, 2009

I’ve just begun using Twitter and I am wondering, what is the best URL shortener in your guys opinion?

bit.ly? tr.im? dwarfurl? memurl? tinyURL? is.gd? doiop.com? ow.ly?

It doesn’t have to be one of those, but something that is reliable. Thanks

1. Search for what you want.

2. Click the first hit.

http://burnurl.com/ not only does it shorten URLs it also provides a number of sharing options embedded in it (like delicious, twitter, etc), plus a counter

www.dot.tk you just make an account and you can have 3 custom urls for free. just put in the url you want it to be like for example flthr.tk and then the actual url fluther.com

easy

I agree with @Benny that tinyurl does it excelently. :)

@FiRE_MaN thats not what I’m talking about ;). Not URL direction

@Benny those are nice, but have you ever had a look at for saw tr.im?

Those seem a lot shorter.

Use tweetdeck; it has a url shortener built in.

What service does it use though to shorten it? If you do not know, could you please give me an example?

@bluedoggiant No, I don’t have much use for them any more now that I can do direct links out of my email, but thanks.

I like tr.im because it’s descriptive but I think bit.ly gives richer options on tracking how many people click your URL and such…
