What kind of camera filter lens should I get?

Asked by loveurmindnsoul (380points) April 15th, 2009

I have 3 lens and would like to get filters for all of them. 50mm f/1.8 II
EF 17–40mm f/4L USM Wide Angle Zoom
100mm f/2.8 macro USM
I’m looking for filters that will protect my lens and not hamper the optical image quality.

I’d use a good quality ND filter (neutral density) depending upon where/how you live/shoot, get one which is allows the most light to pass through… (the least tinted)

I would go with UV filters. Especially if you get sun flares in your shots.

UV filters eh? That sounds good. What about skylight filters? Whats the difference between skylight & UV?
