Firefox bugs?

Asked by emilyrose (2272points) December 3rd, 2007

I just got a new macbook and downloaded firefox. after a while, it just doesnt seem to work. pages load funny, and email is screwed up. If I use safari, its fine, but for a silly reason I have to have two browsers operating at the same time. (I used two different yahoo addresses for work and can’t open two accounts in one browser.) Anyone have any idea what’s going on? I have already erased and re-loaded it and just started having the problem again. wah!

I’d recommend using Camino or Flock as your second browser. They both use the same rendering engine as Firefox—so web pages will look the same—and they may not be as buggy (depending on what version you’re using).

Re-install firefox and your problems should go away.

When I downloaded Firefox onto my laptop (PC), I noticed that I can’t scroll through pages with the scroll button next to my touchpad. It works in other programs such as Word and Internet Explorer, but just not Firefox. Any ideas?

Poser, you might want to try posting that as a separate question on Fluther. I think you’ll get more responses.

@Emilyrose: if it’s a brand new Macbook, you’re probably seeing incompatibilities between Firefox and Leopard. Whenever there’s a major upgrade to an operating system, things like this happen. Firefox is open source, which means that anyone can fix it, but it’s largely volunteer effort, which means that it gets done when someone has the time to dedicate to it.

Is there a reason you’re not using Safari?

i have to use both because i have two different contract jobs, both using yahoo email addresses and you cant have two accounts open on one browser so i use firefox AND safari

Have you tried installing either of the alternative browsers I recommended in my first post? What has been your experience with them?

haven’t tried yet but perhaps i will. thanks!

Actually, you can. Just open them in different tabs or windows.

Have two yahoo accounts open in Safari now.

Glial: I don’t know how to make it work like you’re saying. if I use one, the other one times out so I can’t switch back and forth. I just tried it again!!! Well anyway the firefox seems to be getting better.

The only problem I’ve had with Firefox is that it guzzles memory when using plugins.
