Has anyone ever heard of casu marzu, the outlawed 'maggot cheese' from Italy?

Asked by evelyns_pet_zebra (12923points) April 18th, 2009

I read about casu marzu a few months ago, and found it utterly disgusting. The things that some people will put in their mouth amazes me (okay, get your mind out of the gutter). What are some foods you’ve heard of or seen served that you would not eat, no matter what?

Yes- in fact, it inspired me to write a quiz! (and now everyone has the answer to Q. 1!)

I don’t think I want any of the cheeses on my quiz, thankyouverymuch.

I got a 5/10! I’m so proud! But I already knew about casu marzu and the two affiliated questions, so I guess this actually speaks rather poorly to my guessing skills.

I heard of it last year sometime and read the whole Wikipedia entry on it. I believe it is one new experience that I will just allow to pass me by.

When cheese is outlawed only outlaws will have cheese.

@Jayne don’t feel bad, I only got 2 of them right. I’m so embarrassed

We just did a video search and watched a youtube video of it from a German newscast. This was a bad idea. Recommendation: don’t.

Turtle in ginger sauce. Yummy.

Oops, wrong place. This question was for things I wouldn’t eat. Sorry.

That was fun @crisw.
