What is the meaning of the shorthand that people use on twitter?

What is “RT”? What is ”@”? What other shorthand do I need to know to effectively use twitter? THANKS!

I would refer to twitter.com or google it.

But in answer to your two shorthands listed.

RT = is re-tweet, meaing your posting something someone else said.

@ = the same thing as when you do it here. @willbrawn would mean I am directing the message to willbrawn.
