How do I type "أ" on an Arabic QWERTY keyboard?

Asked by Halazoon (1points) May 1st, 2009

I’m learning Arabic and can type quite well on my Mac using the Arabic QWERTY layout, but I can’t figure out how to type an أ (I think it’s an alif with a hamza on top)- I have to cut and paste it in. The only Arabic QWERTY keyboard layout guide I can find is too low-resoution to see it on.

For these kind of things, i use PopChar.
Another solution is using the built-in character palette. To use it, enable the language bar in system preferences.

Good luck!
