Anyone else here seen the movie "Anvil: The Story of Anvil"?

Tell me what you thought about it, any part of it, any aspect, anything goes. And as a secondary question, are there any bands you know of like this? By that, I mean bands who really were and are every bit as good as contemporaries who made it much bigger, who you feel just got left behind somehow, but yet they persevered for much longer than might have seemed prudent? Also, had you heard of them before the film came out? What are/were your opinions before and after seeing the movie.

It’s about a band named Anvil. A heavy metal band who toured with some of the biggest names in Heavy metal in the early 80s, are considered a huge influence by many of the most important musicians in the genre, everyone basically stole their sound from Anvil, they all got famous and Anvil didn’t. And when you think about it, what is an Anvil, but a piece of heavy metal? So, it makes sense as a band name, and if you’re making a movie about a band called Anvil, it’s as good a title as any.

I misread this as “Avril” – imagine an Avril Lavigne inspired movie, I shudder at the thought.

@vaudevillian – your first clue that I wasn’t talking about an Avril biopic should have been that I was able to type the question in the first place, which if I HAD seen an Avril Lavigne biopic, clearly I would have gouged out my eyes and would not have been able to craft this question!
