How can I stop getting speeding tickets?

I live in an eastern suburb of Cleveland and man, since moving here I’ve probably averaged 3 speeding tickets a year. I drive a Camry and I’m a pretty mellow person and driver and I can’t stand speeders on our residential street. So, when I’m driving in residential areas, I slow down to 20–25. The rest of the time I try my darndest to drive the speed limit, but occasionally my mind wanders, or I’m in a rush and I don’t realize I’m traveling 45 in a 35 or 35 in a 25, and bam, I get pulled over. It sucks! What can I do? Anyone had success with radar detectors? Do they really work and give you enough time to slow down?
