Whose idea was it to make laptop adapters cords soldered on!

Asked by sebulba23 (78points) July 13th, 2009

Of course they make the cheap part that attaches from the wall to the adapter/transformer thing able to come off, but the part that goes from the computer to the adapter doesn’t have a removable connection. This, also, is the most likely part to break over time from the bending. It just seems like it’d be so easy to replace this part, instead of having to order a whole new adapter. Just had to vent that frustration off.

I got a new imitation Dell power cord off of eBay for the fraction of the price of the Dell one when mine went south. It is a pain in the butt when they break, but knowing where to buy a new one if this happens to break (which does seem most likely) makes it easier to live with. :)
