How do I remove my nose stud?

I have had my nose stud in for about 3 years. Its just a small jewel, not a ring. I just want to take it out so I can thoroughly clean the area. I googled it but I didn’t find any of the articles helpful. Can you please give me a simple and easy to understand guide on how to remove it?
