What's the difference between cappucino and latte?

My friend and I were in a cafe; she ordered cappucino, I ordered the latte. When they came, they looked the same. I always assumed there was a difference; maybe in the type of milk, maybe in the proportions. Is there? What is the difference? I know I could google, but I want your take on it.
