How are college registrars using Twitter and Facebook?

Asked by sdittman (1points) July 24th, 2009

As a university registrar, I want to use the various social-networking sites to get useful information in the hands of my students. I am looking for tips, tricks, and resources to make sure I am using these appropriately and effectively.

You might want to check out Carnegie Mellon‘s twitter stream – they do a really good job of combining news and information for new and prospective students with interesting info about what various alumni are up to (which keeps the alumni following them as well). They also post info about local events that students and alumni might be interested in, which gives prospective students a good perspective on what the culture in and around Pittsburgh is like. I’ve been following them (as an alum) for a while, and it’s a really useful way to keep up with the CMU news!
