How do I stop this intermittent typing crazines?

Asked by figbash (7483points) July 26th, 2009

This may be a very dumb and basic question, but I need to ask before I go berserk.

I have a PC. Somehow, I hit a key ( ?) which now makes me type backwards, with the cursor going in front of the last letter I typed.

I can’t seem to get out of it, even if I turn off the computer.

Please help me before I go insane?

(I’m sure this is an easy answer)

You need a new keyboard.

I’m pretty sure it’s a setting . . .

From this discussion.

Open Firefox and try having a look at:

View>Character Encoding and see if any of the settings in that section look out of sorts.

Then, close all instances of Firefox, make sure it’s not running using Task Manager and go:

Start>Run>Type: ‘firefox.exe -p’ (minus the quotes)

This should launch the Firefox Profile Manager.

Is this only happening in your internet browser, or in all programs?

This is probably a “right to left” setting. Normally used for Arabic or hebrew.

Just the browser, it seems. Trying to work through Shilolo’s suggestion .

It was Firefox. I don’t really know how I fixed it but I screwed around with it for awhile, and then rebooted it. I hope this holds up, since rebooting didn’t help the last time. Thank you so much for your help!!
