How to get Conky to launch at start up?

Asked by BrockLee (1points) July 28th, 2009

Conky was launching at start up before I upgrade to Ubuntu 9.04. Now it doesn’t and I have tired to create my own start shell, using a time delay, but that didn’t work either. And if I type conky in the terminal it launches just fine.

It depends on how startup apps are started in your particular desktop environment. I’ll try and cover the major ones here:
Gnome: http://www.ghacks.net/2009/04/08/add-an-application-to-gnomes-autostart/
KDE: http://itg.chem.indiana.edu/inc/wiki/software/168.html (In short, add a link at ~/.kde/Autostart)
XFCE: Either have it running at logout and check the “save session” box, or run ”xfce4-autostart-editor”.
