Why does my Ipod list an album twice? It's in alphabetical, but then appears near the end of the coverflow as if it was a compliation (but it's not!) ?

Asked by michael_25_2003 (1points) July 28th, 2009

I have only one folder in my iMusic folder, so iTunes shows the album once. However, on my iPod (after sync) the album appears twice. In alphabetical order – as it should; but also it appears again near the end of the coverflow as if it’s a compilation album (but it’s not). Both play fine, but why is it doing this? How do I fix? Thanks.

Is it possible that one has different capitalization than the other? I know that when i was labeling my tracks, i had the “and” capitalized for one, but not for the other. This caused the iPod to make it come up as 2 albums.

Could also be from having an Album Artist for part of the album. Look at your ID3 tags to see what is not the same, could be genre as well.

Sam thing happened to me Besides what @eambos said, make sure The spaces are the same.

For example _AFI is different from AFI(no space) Which is different from A.F.I. which is diffrent from AfI, aFI, and AFi

All of the above and also, you could have written it something like “Tri-Polar” and then with a space “Tri-Polar ”.

The space makes it look like you have the same album twice.

Oops, just realized that Resonantscythe wrote pretty much the same as I did :-)
