How or where would I go to unlock a phone?

Asked by prude (1065points) August 1st, 2009

I have an old phone that I like much better than the current/new phone I have now, I tried to simply switch out the sim cards and it turns out I need a code to allow me to use the current sim card in my old phone, how or where would I go to unlock my old phone?

Maybe you can find someone to do it for you on craigslist,

Take it to your phone service place and tell them if they can switch it for you

Call up the company you use as your cell phone provider, let them know the situation and ask.

My boyfriend, however, said he was going out of the country and needed an unlock code and they gave it to him.

There are also people who run companies to unlock phones, there are tons of those on craigslist.

Call the cell phone provider that you used the old phone with, and ask for an “unlock code” and instructions for use. They’ll probably charge a small fee, but so will the people on CraigsList, and the provider is more reliable.

You need not go anywhere, you can unlock your handset from your home using online unlocking providers like http://www.unlocking4u.com/supported-phones/rs5wp7
