Actually, a lot of health-oriented folks suggest 5 small meals a day.

No. B, L & D are recent inventions. You just need a well balanced diet with enough calories to keep you healthy and active. You can snack all day on the right stuff.

Yes! you will explode otherwise! I’d suggest either start eating more meals or move out of densely-populated areas.

5 small meals is the best for you. I guess we’re taught 3 meals a day, but really the more balanced, smaller meals we have, the better.

No we don’t!
It’s just the government wants you to be fat and plump so they can make some delicious soylent green outta you
Hell, we don’t need meals at all

I personally think that grazing throughout the day on healthy things is best.

You should try eating a heavy meal for breakfast and cereal for dinner.
that’s the way it’s suppose to go!

There is also a school of thought that being slightly underfed is healthier for you and results in longevity.

Here’s an article about it from Science Daily:

“For nearly 70 years scientists have known that caloric restriction prolongs life. In everything from yeast to primates, a significant decrease in calories can extend lifespan by as much as one-third.”

I prefer triangular meals.

I’d read in some old magazine once upon a time that the way meals should go is “breakfast like a king, lunch like a peasant and supper like a pauper.” I graze, myself.

Eat when your hungry.

Darwin's avatar

@buster – That would be all the time for me. I am always hungry.

AstroChuck's avatar

No. I avoid square food whenever possibly.

Sarcasm's avatar

@AstroChuck even if it’s a PB&J with the crusts cut off? :O

I eat breakfast every morning, but nothing heavy. I also snack throughout the day, but do have a sit down meal for lunch and dinner with my son. I thinking having small meals through the day is ideal.

There have been studies that show no significant difference between eating all your calories in one sitting (Warrior Diet), 3 meals a day, and grazing all the time. It’s the total number of calories that matter.

hungryhungryhortence's avatar

I get by one “meal” a day and the rest of my hunger filled in by snacks like a bowl of oatmeal, a yogurt, some fruits & nuts, nuggets of cheese here and there. Oh and booze, I prefer to drink my calories :D

rooeytoo's avatar

I like to eat so yep, 3 meals and a snack mid afternoon. I could probably live without them, but why???

erniefernandez's avatar

Regular meals are not necessary, but I read somewhere (no citation available; get off me) that taking in 30% of your calories at the start of your day can be beneficial to prevent binging later.

I can vouch for that.

cyn's avatar

@AstroChuck I thought iit was cubic food….?

Aster's avatar

No but I’d die without dinner. I’d be starved all night.
