What's going on in New York this week that I shouldn't miss?

Asked by Mamradpivo (9665points) August 15th, 2009

I’ll be in New York for the week, working during the day, but will have ample time in the evenings to go to concerts and what have you. Is there anything cool that I should know about?

@jca What the hell NYC do you live in? I’m still chillin’ in my boxers.

Take the 6 train to Astor. Walk east. Northeast corner of 8th Street and 3rd Avenue. Right next to the McDonalds. 5 shots for 10 bucks. Pass out on St. Marks.

You’re welcome.

If you’re into museums, I’ve heard the Afghanistan jewelry exhibit at the Met is great. Also, check out Bryant Park at 42nd and 5th. There’s a nice cafe and lovely benches to sit on; you feel like you’re in Paris. If you like theatre, stand on line at the TCKTS booth for half-price seats to Broadway and off-Broadway shows. Or just walk through Central Park and people watch – one of my fave things to do in the city.

Go see Hairspray at the Neil Simon Theatre; I think it’s 250 West 52nd Street. It’s a phenomenal show! And if you’re looking for some good eats, try BB King’s restaurant! I believe it’s either 237 West 42nd Street and also try Puglia’s in Chinatown and the Evergreen Chinese. The last day I was there, my friends & I went to Planet Hollywood too – it’s very interesting in there! And if you get the chance, go to Madame Tussaud’s! Amazing Wax Museum! 234 West 42nd Street!

And, a visit Strawberry Fields in Central Park so the guy with the dog (I think the dog’s name is Mary-Jane!) can explain to you what all the architecture in the sidewalks mean!
