Soap and water usually does it. Try rubbing alcohol.

Tink's avatar

The alcohol made my skin irritated.

This is going to sound weird, but when my daughter wrote on an expensive doll with permanent marker, a neighbor recommended using Preparation H, and it took most of it out of the doll. Maybe it would work on your skin.

Quagmire's avatar

@PandoraBoxx , was it because the marker was on the doll’s ass?

Tink's avatar

Preparation H? What is that?

Tink's avatar

Oh wait, never mind, i know what it is now. Hehe.

Do you all have any Goo Gone?

cyn's avatar

You really let a guy write on you with a sharpie…..hope it wasn’t something illegal. :)

The_Compassionate_Heretic's avatar

Cold water, soap and patience is the way to go when washing off sharpie ink.

I used to mark on myself on accident all the time at work and this sounds weird but it works. Get a dry erase marker (the ones that teachers use at school) and mark all over where the permanent marker is then wash off it works on surfaces besides skin as well. Goo Gone is your next best bet.

I teach elementary school so I always have ink from markers all over my hands. A littlesoap and water helps but in the end you just have to wait for it to wear off on its own.

Tink's avatar

@PandoraBoxx I don’t think so.
@cyndihugs I didn’t let him, it wasn’t illegal though :)
@The_Compassionate_Heretic Cold water?
@sjmc1989 So I write over it with another marker?

cyn's avatar

@Tink1113 you should’ve kissed him so he would’ve stopped. :)

If you write on a dry erase board with permanent marker, scribbling over it with a dry erase marker takes it off.

Have you tried baby oil or vasoline?

sjmc1989's avatar

Yes we use to do it all the time at work. I dont know why it works but whatever is in the dry erase marker makes it easier to wash off the permanent ink. Just mark over it, wait a second, and then wash it off with soap and water. You shouldn’t have to scrub hard.

Tink's avatar

@Parrothead Its been like this since yesterday.
@PandoraBoxx I haven’t tried vasoline yet.
@sjmc1989 Ill give it a try.

Tink's avatar

Ok vasoline didn’t work, I tried the dry erase marker and it looks like it’s starting to fade away.

Another product that will remove the ink is Goop, a mechanic’s hand cleaner. You can get it at auto parts stores.

sjmc1989's avatar

Just remember to leave the dry erase on there for a little bit then wash. I hope it works for you!

jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities's avatar

Use some peroxide. It works wonders.

Sampson's avatar

Rubbing alcohol is the best way. It comes right off. But if you’ve been washing your skin like crazy for the past hour, it will burn like utter hell.

Tink's avatar

@PerryDolia Ill keep that in mind :)
@sjmc1989 Ill keep doing it.
@jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities I didn’t think of that…
@Sampson It did burn like a mofo!

Sampson's avatar

@Tink1113 Wait till it feels better, then try it. Put some lotion on them before too.

Tink's avatar

The dry erase marker is sort of working, thanks guys!

NaturalMineralWater's avatar

Put some jello on it, followed by some syrup and chewing gum. Does the trick every time.

NaturalMineralWater's avatar

@Tink1113 I’m sorry. That was a lame joke. What you should really do is put porcupine spittle, elephant urine, and badger tears on it. This concoction may sting slightly.

But seriously… nothing is permanent on skin.. even tattoos fade. After trying all the stuff here (aside from my terrible suggestions) your hands will look brand spankin new once more.

Tink's avatar

@NaturalMineralWater oh, :)
it’s almost gone!

cyn's avatar

@Tink1113 yay. :)
glad It’s working.

buster's avatar

Put gasoline or paint thinner on a rag and rub it off. Both will get tar, spray paint, markers, and grease off your hands.

Tink's avatar

@buster Um, that’s dirty….

buster's avatar

Your hands are dirty.

Tink's avatar

No they aren’t.

babygalll's avatar

Rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover.

desmodus's avatar

A sharp pair of scizzors should do the trick.. Or a scalpel if you can get your hands on it.
