Who built the first Top Fuel Dragster to break 300?
wondering who built that, not just who was driving it.

300? doesn’t seem very fast.
a lot of street cars can reach that nowadays

Kenny Bernstein drove it and his crew chief, Dale Armstrong, came up with a lot of the innovations that made it able to go that fast. I don’t know who actually designed the 1992 car, but the one he used to break his own record by going 314 mph a few years later was built by veteran chassis designer Al Swindahl. The engine in the 1992 car was a stock Hemi altered by Dale Armstrong and tuned by crewchief Wes Cerny.
Bernstein’s first Top Fuel car was a Woody Gilmore dragster that belonged to Tom “The Mongoose” McEwan. He brought it home to Texas and installed an engine built by Mitchell and Donald Anderson. Then he won his first two races with it.
He also worked a lot with Ray Alley from California on his Funny Cars.
This book might have the answer in it for that particular car.
