@deni and a totally rocking cover by Hurra Torpedo! :D… and the literal music video version!

My favorite YouTube comment on the Hurra Torpedo cover of Total Eclipse of the Heart:

“You think this is easy. Do you know how hard it is to get a freezer and stove in the right pitch. The freezer isn’t to hard. But they get pissed when you start banging around on a stove. It’s almost to a point where no store will let you through the door with a house jack, or even a small sledge hammer.”

I think that a song which reminds me of falling out of love would inevitably remind me of what it was like to fall in love

@evelyns_pet_zebra heat of the moment also reminds me of South Park haha

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

well, not me, I don’t watch SouthPark, and Heat of the Moment was popular when I was going through a particularly difficult break up. And thanks for filling my head with that cartoon version, ick.

There’s another song that reminds me of breaking up, that came out about five years ago, but dammit, I can’t think of the name of the group or the damn song!

The Heart of the Matter
by Don Henley

I’ve been tryin to get down
To the heart of the matter
But my will gets weak
And my thoughts seem to scatter
But I think its about forgiveness
Forgiveness
Even if, even if you dont love me anymore

@IBERnineD: GA. I love that song (it was my first thought too).

Another good one (written with divorced dads in mind):

@evelyns_pet_zebra Jesus. sorry I thought it was funny…. hate to ruin such a sweet song for you, I mean Asia was one of the greatest bands ever.
Since everyone wants to be all sad and shit I submit to you every shitty Dashboard Confessional song ever made!! Go cry about your girlfriend dumping your ass to that…

@gailcalled I think the guy Carly Simon wrote that song for should have made his own song called “You’re Such a Narcissist I Bet You Think That I Think This Song Was About Me”

Sampson's avatar

@madcapper That song was actually wrote about Warren Beatty.

gailcalled's avatar

@Sampson: Warren Beatty is a definite “maybe.”

Some history‘re_So_Vain

“The song spawned what many fans consider to be the biggest musical mystery of the era. There has been much debate over whom exactly the song is about. Popular guesses on the subject include Mick Jagger (who sang uncredited backing vocals on the song), Cat Stevens, Warren Beatty, Kris Kristofferson (with whom she had had brief relationships), the unfaithful fiancé William Donaldson and Simon’s ex-husband, James Taylor.

“Simon has never publicly acknowledged in full whom the song is about. She commented in an interview that it was about “many vain men I’ve known in my life.In a 1989 interview, Simon acknowledged that the song is a little bit about Beatty but said that the subject of the song is a composite of three men from her L.A. days.”

(Simons wrote the song. It was possibly written about Beatty.)

Telepopmusik ( Dont Look Back )

Sit Still, and close your eyes
What’s behind the other door, oh
No more silence, don’t kill this thing we got called love
Just searching for the perfect drug

When Love comes calling
Don’t look back
When love comes calling
Don’t look away [x2]

And I’m standing over here
Watching you over there
Smiling, happy, unaware
Oh, life is spinning round
You’re going underground, forgetting who we were
Let’s try and keep it just one more day

When Love comes calling
Don’t look back
When love comes calling
Don’t look away [x2]

You take your love
And throw it all around
Like it’s nothing special
Just a sound
Let me say one more thing
I don’t think you realize
That a day is like a year sometimes

(When Love comes calling
Don’t look back
When love comes calling
Don’t look away) [x2]

When Love comes calling
Don’t look back
When love comes calling
Don’t look away [x2]

(means something to me)

Tori Amos – Northern Lad

“Northern Lad”

Had a northern lad
Well not exactly had
He moved like the sunset
God who painted that
First he love my accent
How his knees could bend
I thought we’d be ok
Me and my molasses
But I feel someting is wrong
But I fell this cake just isn’t done
Don’t say that you Don’t
And if you could see me now
Said if you could see me now
Girls you’ve got to know
When it’s time to turn the page
When you’re only wet
Because of the rain
He don’t show much these days
It’s gets so fucking cold
I loved his secret places
But I can’t go anymore
“you change like sugar cane”
Says me northern lad
I guess you go too far
When pianos try to be guitars
I feel the west in you
And I feel it falling apart too
Don’t say that you Don’t
And if you could see me now
Said if you could see me now
Girls you’ve got to know
When it’s time to turn the page
When you’re only wet
Because of the rain
When you’re only wet
Because of the rain
