Can you recommend a good site to post or view short stories?

Asked by w2pow2 (490points) September 5th, 2009

Well I wrote a couple here and there and my friends sure like it. Is there a God-given site on the web that would allow you to do such a God-given thing?

Would you, as a writer, explain to me what a “God-given site” is and what is meant by “to do such a God-given thing”?

(And “several” would be the antecedent for “them” and not “it.”)

Well I just jot stuff down every now and then, I aint planning on going pro!
@DrBill Thanx! :D
@gailcalled I’m guessing that you’re taking, or have taken, literature classes in college, and can’t stand it when someone uses improper English. Am I right?
Well if I am then you’ll probably hate my guts!
(BTW I give you props on that antecedent.. .thing….)
Just a heads up
Have a good day!

@DrBill I just checked out that site and it aint exactly what I’m looking for…
Is there a site out there that exists only for the purpose of submitting and viewing short stories?

@w2pow2: Wrong. I took one required Freshman comp course and specialized in astronomy and French.

As @gailcalled implied, there ain’t no “God-given” sites on the web. And short stories, of course, have not been given by any God, no matter how much it might feel that way. So if that’s what you’re really looking for, you’re wasting your time.

@w2pow2 naw, there aren’t any sites like you want. I have looked myself. I write lots of short fiction, and about your only option is a blog of some sort.

Writers, both amateurs and pros, usually take pride in what they put down on paper. You can be breezy without being sloppy. See David Foster Wallace , for example.

@w2pow2 If you find such a place, let me know, will you?

@daloon
...Seriously?
I have never nor do I ever plan to ask if short stories are inspired by any divine power…

@w2pow2 Your language is doubly confusing, then. What are you talking about, then?

You can go to Flask and Pen. Even if that site is not what you are looking for, they have a page full of links to other sites that might work.

@Supacase
@mponochie
Just what I was looking for. Thanks everyone!
