Anybody has an idea where I can get this particular book (solutions manual)?

Asked by archaeopteryx (1004points) September 11th, 2009

Hello there, people.

I have this book about operations research called: Operations Research, an Introduction 8th Editon, by Hamdy Taha. And I’m looking for it’s solutions manual. Unfortunately however, the only thing that I found is a scanned version offered by some individuals on Google Groups for $12 (via Paypal). And, honestly, I don’t quite trust them, ‘coz you never know who they might be. So, I’m wondering if some of you might have any information as to where to get it safely. I’d be very thankful.

All I can find so far is a 3rd edition copy.. what year was the 8th edition published?

Don’t see it either. The folks on google groups use paypal. If they stiff you report it to paypal and get your money back, that’s what they’re there for. It may take a couple days to get the money back but you will get it back especially if these folks are indeed shady this wouldn’t be the first complaint. It’s 12 bucks not bad, if it was $100 maybe it would change things.

Oh, that’s great, at least there’s a guarantee that my money, in case of scam, theft, (etc.) won’t just fly into oblivion.

@photographcrash and @limeaide:

Yeah, I know, I searched the entire internet for it, and I just couldn’t find it.
That’s why I’m kinda worried that these guys might just be playing a nasty scam game.

Thanks a lot for trying, it’s good to have the e-book.
However, that’s not exactly what I was looking for. I was actually looking for the solutions manual.

Many of the book sites have rules forbidding the selling of solutions manuals because they are often used by students who are cheating. If someone is selling a xeroxed copy of one somewhere that may be your only choice. However, be aware that they are breaking several laws, including copyright laws.

Okay, that’s weird.

If so, then why do famous calculus, digital design, discrete mathematics (etc.) books still provide a section containing all solutions at the end?

As for “famous: I meant really famous (i.e: Howard Anton, Salas & Hillie, etc.) ”

If they are supplied in the book itself, then all students have equal access. However, if only a few students have access to what is essentially a teacher’s edition, that is cheating.

Did you ever find this solution manual? I’m also in desperate need of it and have been searching for months online. Like you, I have been skeptical about dealing with those who have it for sale.

No, man.
Unfortunately, I didn’t find it and then I just gave up on it.
