What games should I play with my puppies / What activities should I use to train them ?

Asked by Anatelostaxus (1428points) September 16th, 2009

3 months old. 1 male, 1 female.
I’m thinking about starting them off early and introducing them to a series of useful physical education.
Yes, they’re very young, nevertheless they’ve got massive energy (stamina and strength).
They’re mix breeds, have no idea what of. There might be some Terrier in there. Not sure.
They’re showing quite an amount of hunting predator instinct already.
But to top it all they’re very calm in moments of stall.

Encourage them to follow you around. (Establishes you as pack leader.) Make sure you go through doors first, etc. You can use treats to reward their doing what you want.

For playing, have them chase things and return them to you.

Puppies love Candyland! They told me so. I know I’m no help to anybody. I apologize :(

Playtime and exercise is extremely important for dogs of all ages. Supervised playtime with toys that encourage development are excellent for the puppies. Tugging or pull-toys with you or each other are not recommended initially (per my dog trainer). Kong toys and any type of toys they both respond positively are fantastic. Please supervise the puppies when they play as most puppies unknowingly get into mischief. Check all toys for rips/tears to be sure they are safe for playtime. Kong toys are durable, but should be checked regularly as well. If fighting over a toy happens, take the toy away and let them play solely with each other. Basic obedience training can begin now. And always use positive reinforcement. Check out the Dog Whisperer’s site for qualified advice: http://www.cesarmillaninc.com/
