Driving down Highway 1?

What is your starting point and final destination?

I usually like to go at least as far South as the Hearst Castle. It’s just so… well, you know.

Sorry, All my time in that part of the state was at the Presidio, and that was a long time ago.

You need to get to San Luis Obispo with a stop in Morro Bay before you hit 5. seriously

It’s always nice to see Morro Rock, but I’m not sure I get the attraction of SLO.

Stop for a meal at Nepenthe, and then visit the shop. After that, enjoy the drive, down to Cambria, just south of Hearst Castle, and cut over to 5 from there.

Good suggestion @YARNLADY. Cambria is a very cute town.

if you go through there, I’d suggest getting out and walking around downtown. It’s pretty small, so it won’t take you long.

Big Sur to Morrow Bay. Stop by the Madonna Inn, and check out a couple of the rooms, and the bathroom in the lobby. Really!

@filmfann—Madonna Inn is inland from Morrow Bay by about 15 minutes drive, but well worth the trip.—

I stayed there once when it first opened. I hope they’ve renovated by now. The bathroom was rather hilarious.

SLO is an awesome city :)
