I am very happy with DirecTV, and while I am not familiar with Dish personally, I know it has been successfully sued in New York by the AGs office for misleading advertising and failing to honor promised discounts.

Dish is full of “introductory” rates and other such promotions. I’ve compared Dish and DirecTV channel-to-channel, and you get more for your money with DirecTV once you get past the introductory Dish rates.

DirectTV. We’ve been subscribers for years & years. We got it when it was the old PrimeStar. Great company to deal with.

They’re both, unfortunately, quite lame. No cable or FiOS option?

I’ve had both… six of one, half a dozen of another.

I personally liked Dish better. You got more movie channels than with Direct and at our home, the signal came in better during rain. Another thing that I liked better about Dish was the auto-tune set up.

@Sampson Direct TV also has the auto tune.

@jbfletcherfan I know. I don’t like it as much as the Dish one. They over complicated a very simple thing imo.

jbfletcherfan's avatar

@Sampson I don’t use it, so I don’t know.

@jbfletcherfan It’s (relatively) very messy. You have to go through multiple menus and to change the channel after the auto-tune, you have to approve it.

With dish, you just had to hit a button twice (at least that’s my memory).

@Sampson Well, like I say, we don’t use it. Our channel is pretty much stuck on TrueTV. Other than the news, the network shows suck.
