What do the little notes mean on Rock Band 2?

Asked by AlyxCaitlin (936points) September 25th, 2009

I know the whole game, but just not what those are. It’s when you’re playing guitar but instead of a big note, there are little notes that come up. Here’s an example:

It’s the guitar on the far right and it’s the red note coming up

They are “hammer on” notes, meaning you can play the note by pushing the fret button only; you don’t have to strum.

@phoenyx is correct, but it only works if you’ve correctly played all previous notes leading back to the big one. So if you see regular short short short, you not only have to have played the regular note correctly, but also each short note to be able to not strum, yet still get points.
