How can I help a pinched nerve in my back heal?

Asked by RedPowerLady (12598points) September 27th, 2009

Yesterday I pinched a nerve in my lower back, well I assume that is what I did anyhow. It hurts insanely bad. I thought it was better this morning so I made it out to the living room. Now I can’t even move from the couch. When I move I get insane pains. These aren’t the type of pains I can just deal with, they are crazily painful. I’m also afraid I’ll fall if I try and move while having the pains. I can’t take Ibuprofen and I can’t use icy hot patches/cream because of pregnancy. Any ideas?? I really am hoping to get up and get some lunch. Or at least change the channel, golf came on (sorry golf lovers, i just don’t find it interesting to watch).

Best is to seek doctor’s advice. You are a pregnant lady and that complicates things

Can you use a heating pad for 10 minutes every hour and also stay in bed? Back spasms more likely than a pinched nerve) usually need a few days of rest and as little movement as possible.

Se a chiropractor tomorrow if you can.

You may have pinched the sciatic nerve, a big ouie. Have you ever tried acupuncture? Two friends of mine ended up in the same situation as you, unable to comfortably move before they gave in out of pain and desperation and are now fans of the stick-ems :D It’s less jarring than a chiropractor, usually less expensive, no drugs needed and a few visits a year will be like a tune up.

Read “Healing back pain” by my Doctor. His name is Dr. John Sarno. Google him. He cured me.
