Do you like clubs or pubs?

Asked by hillo (61points) October 8th, 2009

I don’t seem to like clubs, pubs or anything that could be found in those places, alcohol, dancing, loud music, dance music, dressing strangely, large groups of people acting strangely

Pubs (bars), pretty much always. I want to be able to sit, have a few drinks, and chat with my friends without screaming or feeling like I’m in some sceney place.

No I prefer the local coffee shop/cafe and talk about literature/plays/art house movies with friends while having a nice cup of coffee in a calm enviroment

They both work. Depends on what you are in the mood for
If I REALLY had to choose.

Nothing like a pint of Ale at a NYC Pub.

I’m more of a Pub man myself (the Mrs and i frequent an Irish Pub in Tijuana).
The club scene is very big down here (shared between San Diego and Tijuana) but it gets od after a while.

I was lucky/unlucky in that most of the clubs in Tijuana were owned by friends of the family and i knew the heads of security (some of them were friends’ family members) so we got started at the ripe old age of 16… by the time i was 24 i was DONE with clubs. I’ll still go on the rare occasion but would much rather sit and chat while having a drink ro listen to some live music and even once in a while catch a game.

(I just realized… at 29 I sound like someone well into their 30’s… i’m gonna go put a shotgun in my mouth now)

Edit: I hate dubs in my foreign films as well.

I have actually always been partial to a beer at home with friends and family.

My family always try and get me to drink every event I go to with them, they also try and get me to go to clubs and pubs.

I like pubs…I don’t much care for clubs as you lose your voice trying to talk to people…admittedly you can dance but I don’t really enjoy dancing and have never quite understood what the purpose of it is other than personal enjoyment…i certainly don’t pick friends or potential mates by their ability to wiggle about in time to music

Loose your voice and your ability to hear. lol.

Well I like to get my dance on so clubs can be really fun. But pubs are cool too if I just want to chill out and catch up with some friends I havent seen for a week.

Pubs when I feel going out and partying..

I prefer pubs to clubs. I don’t dance much, and I like to be able to talk to people without screaming when I go out. When I want to have some drinks and hang with friends, I go to the local tavern, and it’s a lot like Cheers “where everybody knows your name.” The place is family owned for 3 generations, and it’s a great place to get comfy with friends and family for dinner, drinks, a game on TV, or just some quiet time.

Pubs. Clubs are way too loud.

@hillo Wanna hit the pub later? The first round of Irish Car Bombs in on me. We can follow it up with shots of Fernet Branca. What do you say? Good fun, right?

Barcybarce's avatar

Go to a concert outdoors, if you don’t like the music or dancing all you have to do is walk away…pubs are better, you can actually have a conversation

Dr_C's avatar

@peedub the first time the missus and i went out we got irish car bombs.. still our drink

I forgot to add before that there are no good dance clubs in NYC anymore, at least not like Palladium or Limelight. All gone. Thanks Michael Alig and Rudy Giuliani, ya schmucks!
