Use a flat iron. It’s much safer than chemical straighteners, and if you don’t like the result, you aren’t stuck with it. Get the ceramic one. It’s not as harsh as the other types available.

I’d suggest using a flat iron as well if you want to try it out. And first try it on a small strip of hair to see how it reacts. Then if it reacts well keep at it.

Otherwise I don’t see why you need one. Your hair looks good as-is to me.

Why do you want to straighten your hair? I hope it’s not because “eggplantspirit” suggested it

But yea, a good flat iron will do the trick.

well actually it is because my hair has reached a length where i now look like a homeless bum! my hair has of late become considerably greasy, dandruff-y and split end-y. i would love to just get rid of the rag doll that is my hair and have a nice clean straight hairdo like zac efron!

@ssarti Then do it! I think you’d look good with a Zach Effron-like haircut. My brother has a haircut like that, and also has curly hair. It looks super cute on him, and you have a similarly shaped faced.

@ssarti you’re very welcome! Sorry, I couldn’t see the pics you posted. Youtube is blocked on my work computer..BLAH!!

I hope you like it here. We have a huge great group of people here!

@ssarti Straightening it will only exacerbate your problems. Switch to a natural shampoo and get your ends clipped regularly .

I agree with @Facade. You’re cute, why hide it?

Supacase's avatar

I like it the way it is in the video. Why not just get it cut to that length again?

Jeruba's avatar

I think your curls are adorable.

Facade's avatar

@Jeruba Curls are always adorable :P

I agree! My second son had a little baby curl right at the back of his neck, and I just hated having to cut it off when it started to make a ringlet. He still has beautiful waves.

Try the MaxiGlide or Chi Iron on a REALLY low heat, and also use something like John Frieda or Maxim to protect your hair.

awww thanks everybody! i appreciate all the compliments but i doubt you all would think the same if you saw my hair up close since it really is a mess. i’ll look for that product, ‘perplexed82’, and i’ll get back at you all with the results!

perplexed82's avatar

@ssarti Just be careful w/ the heat. You don’t want to damage your hair. I straighten mine which is pretty thick at about a setting of 8 and I can’t do it every day or it fries it. Also don’t straighten it every day!

Are you still in that “let’s all be lumberjacks” phase that some guys go through, where a haircut every three weeks, and daily hairwashings are out of the question?

Webzilla's avatar

If you buy a good straightener like GHD you won’t have to straighten it everyday. Also remember to use some form of heat protection before you touch it. Your hair does look thin so you will lose your volume too. You can always wash it if you don’t like it!

ssarti's avatar

hahahah i suppose i was in the lumberjack phase, but now i want to get out of it, and the first step would be to fix up those grungy locks. @Webzilla Hmmm you’re probably right about using a good straightener i mean my hair is quite messed up as it is. thanks!
