How tough is the basic police training in Calfornia?

Asked by simone54 (7629points) January 30th, 2008

I wanna be a park ranger. I think graduation from the police academy is required. Does anyone know how hard is it?

I don’t think that you’re right about that; the park rangers are federal employees, and police academies are either local or state-wide. So different jurisdictions altogether.

The National Park Service has its own training academies. Here’s the link to how to be a park ranger. http://www.nps.gov/personnel/rangers.htm

You’re wrong. California State Parks and Recreation, a state agency, hire Park Rangers for Law Enforcement duties. They must be POST certified just like any other peace officer in the state. They enforce the same laws and have the same powers as any Peace Officer. I work in Law Enforcement and have never come across anyone that works for NPS.

Police Academy is pretty tough. You need to be smart and in shape. Go onto iTunes and search for “The Academy” TV Show. Download/buy a few episodes. It might be reality TV and dramatized a little bit but it’s actually a very accurate representation of how the Police Academy is.

Hope that helps,

Ryan – ( Deputy Sheriff )

Is the movie Police Academy accurate too?

Does being a California Park Ranger pay the same as police officer.
