What famous writers use Twitter?

Asked by isabinuta (4points) October 10th, 2009

Do you know some writers who use Twitter for the purpose of writing? Who don’t use it just to update their location, but to express their thoughts and ideas.
If you know some people that do this, not especially famous, I’d like to know about them
Thanks.

I (usually) write short posts here. I flitter.

@aprilsimnel:I was just coming to say that!

I believe that Laurell K Hamilton twitters as well, as I’ve seen NG’s assistant, the fabulous Lorrain address her via twitter.

But Neil Gaiman’s twitter is incredibly cute—aside from stuff about writing, he also chats with his (widespread) children online and it’s freaking adorable. I suspect he also chats with his girlfriend, but I did not particularly care for her writing style, so I did not follow her.

Neil’s awesome (and he lives in my home state)!

@Cartman Thanks for that.

@Zen you’re welcome :)

Have I coined “flitter” first?

@EmpressPixie . . .I have always pictured Holly Hunter playing Anita Blake. Great series of books.

Sadly no it seems:

flit⋅ter
1  /ˈflɪtər/
–verb (used without object), verb (used with object)
to flutter.

Origin: 1535–45

A few other interesting meanings: “a fritter or pancake” or “Informal An empty-headed, silly, often erratic person”

Ah yes, but not as in to twitter on fluther = flitter.

:-)

What’s Twitter?

Darwin's avatar

@hartford3 – A message-sending site that consists essentially of endless Facebook updates – brief comments on “what I am doing now.”

Zen's avatar

@hartford3 Google it first to find out, but essentially it is like instant messaging to numerous people, up to 140 characters only at a time. It is to writing and communication what fast food is to gourmet.

sandystrachan's avatar

@Zen I thought it was 160 characters.

I can not figure out how Twitter works….

Zen's avatar

@sandystrachan Nope, it’s 140.

What are you doing? 140
