Are bumper stickers making a comeback?

Asked by DarkScribe (15505points) October 16th, 2009

I am seeing them everywhere lately – they have been pretty rare for quite a few years.

Two that I have seen today: “Non-conformists are all alike” & “The difference between genius and stupidity – genius has it limits”.

They say there are people that put bumper stickers on their cars, and those that don’t. Here in the states, they ask you if you have them on your car before they ask you questions on political polls.

I’ve seen a poster on my brothers door that has the genius and stupidity one with a picture of Einstein with his tongue out. Yet bumper stickers are all opinions right?

YES – GQ btw.

Let’s think of some good ones – post politics!

Only on Facebook!~

I don’t put bumper stickers on my car. I have a decal on the window, but not bumperstickers on the paint.

@NewZen post politics!

Another one that have seen recently – I like it.

“Under labor man exploited man – under liberal it is just the opposite.”

My AAA sticker on my fender is pretty pimpin’. Does that count?

I have three stickers on my truck bumper, but I got lots to say. I also have big creepy spider decals on the sides of my cab, but hey, they match my rims.

I also have a Fluther sticker on my window, and another that says, “Tailgaters Beware, Roaches On Board.”

And then there is the Fuck-d Up Stuff sticker in the back window.

Bumper stickers never went out of style around here.

I have always seen bumper stickers on cars. Did it go out of fashion and make a comeback?

They sure never went out of style in the territory. If you don’t have a Jim and a Jack and a Bundy on the back of your ute you are NOBODY! It also is good to have one complaining about the 130kph speed limit and telling the southerners to go back where they came from.

I like bumper stickers, but I find few worthy of my car. I like the ones Capt_Bloth and I come up with:

The problem with giving everyone a voice is that stupid people are really loud.

Just be funny or shut the fuck up.

Is it just so I know, or is it just because you want to tell me?

Do these last two make sense as stand-alone phrases? The first was thought in response to one of the less well-written correspondent bits on the Daily Show. The second is a retort to someone saying ”...,just so you know.” I hate that when people say that; it’s so maddeningly passive-aggressive.

I never noticed them go out of style.

I usually don’t notice ones that are anything other than university, military or political ones, unless I’m making a road trip.
My car covers all of those with a a WVU logo (since that’s where I go to school), US Air Force (for my brother), and “Barack and Roll!”. Also I have a Mac Apple symbol, a Wild Zero tattoo studios sticker, and one that says “Fear this Dachshund”

They never went away. I think they’re tacky personally.
You’ll never see a Mercedes CLK class with a sticker saying:
“I <3 Spotted Owls Sauteed in baby seal oil

I saw one on a convertible recently:
I’M STILL HOT:
IT JUST COMES IN FLASHES NOW

tinyfaery's avatar

@The_Compassionate_Heretic Plenty of Mercedes cars out here with bumper stickers.

@hearkat – I love that one, and totally relate!

i love bumper stickers. well, some. i hate the ones that are witty little one line insults….they’re (almost) always dumb and i’m still always trying to read them for some reason.
