Does the British government have funds or financing independant of the British economy?

Asked by walterallenhaxton (893points) October 22nd, 2009

It having such resources is the only reason why I think that anyone should believe that that government can support that economy even for a little while.

If it is Government, any funds are a part of the economy. They can arrange loans – but they will also become a part of the economy.

Ultimately all the funds come from the people, i.e. the taxpayers.

@mattbrowne So the government taking money from the more productive members of society and giving it to the less productive ones will rescue Great Britain from it’s economic problems.

As-side. They will also take it through inflation from whoever owns any British money at all.

@DarkScribe You can take my money and spend it better that I can, which is my full time job, if you are a organization. of people who call themselves a government. Correct????

@DarkScribe You can only arrange loans of existing resources.

A government can arrange a loan – borrow money from anyone who is willing to provide it to them. Private sector, another government etc., with or without security. It often happens. Look at how much the US owes off-shore right now. Look at past British debts.

In this instance I have no idea what your point is. You seem to be suggesting that Governments shouldn’t govern or govern without taxation. Are you advocating anarchy?

People elect governments.

@DarkScribe I see no reason for us to be ruled by criminal organizations. The only problem with anarchy is what do you do with the bullies. There are really only two ways to face the problem of government. Either you will end up in the end with a totalitarian government and eventual destruction of society in bankruptcy and war or you argue against such an institution existing in the first place.

I don’t know about advocating anarchy. I do advocate the abolition of government. They should be put out of business on a regular basis and all of their records destroyed. If people want to start them up again from scratch let them sell the need for such an institution all over again.

@mattbrowne Most governments exixsted before any of the people voting for them existed. So they came first. When they are formed in the first place most people don’t vote for them and in those circumstance where they seem to it under coercion. It was certainly a good idea to vote for the Iraq government even though that country has little need for that government. There were hundreds of thousands of armed troops going around killing off the people who did not want that government and those troops there.
The people there would have figured out how to handle the bandits without a government. They could do nothing against that organized band of country thieves. Voting made sense.
Voting on how another person lives their life is not a tool to be used except by a jury in a trial.
