Who first developed Optical Image Stabilization?

Asked by tramnineteen (741points) October 23rd, 2009

Who developed and who first produced a lens with image stabilization?

Also, who came out with sensor-shift technology.

I am interested in the entire history of this technology so I would appreciate if you share any sources you find.

Wikipedia has some good answers and sources: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_stabilization

I looked over Wikipedia’s page but if you read it you’ll note it does not cover the history or invention.

Wikipedia’s treatment is very general and simply covers the what and how.

True… it sort of implied it to me

Some stuff:

Canon was the first to introduce a lens that use optical image stabilization. I’m not sure who was first with sensor-shift stabilization.
