When life gives you lemons, do you make lemonade?

Asked by shego (11093points) October 24th, 2009

I guess it depends on the situation. Sometimes, I do. Sometimes I don’t.
What do you make? It doesn’t have to be just lemons, mabey you add other fruit to the mix to make it sweet.

When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold.
(According to Atmosphere.)

Sans gold paint, I’d set out on a search for some raspberries.

Honestly, who gives lemons?

AstroChuck's avatar

I suppose, but usually I get shit. What am I supposed to make with that?

Mmmmmm, I’d make some delicious lemon cream cake.

In an answer to the intended question I’d have to say yes, almost every time. I always try to make the best of all situations I get myself into. Although I don’t always notice it.

@nzigler the crazy family members I have out in FL.

You deal with the lemons the best you can and rise above it. It’s like a lemon meringue pie….turn the lemons into a rich delicious pudding and top with a glorious meringue with tall peaks that place those lemons where they belong, down below and covered in heavenly goodness. See ya…Gary/wtf

I’d drink @breedmitch‘s lemoncello – then I wouldn’t even remember that life had given me lemons.

No, when I get lemons, I cut them in half. I sneak up and tap someones shoulder, and when the turn around I yell “This!” and squirt lemon juice in their eyes, and laugh at them screaming and writhing on the floor on pain.

…or squeeze it over some scampi….mmmmmm yum yum…

Well, I think you simply have to make something with it…you can’t deny whatever form of lemon life has dealt you… you can’t deny its existence even if you ignore it…its still there…and if you don’t do something productive with it…it will go all rotten and then your problem will end up even bigger…

@evegrimm can i have the lemon bar recipe please?? :-)

When life gives me lemons I pelt the lemons back at whoever gave them to me.

Eat em straight with some sugar on top and cut up into little cubes MMMMMMM!

When I worked at Chick Fil A I probably ate like 3 lemons a night. They had the best lemons. THey were always juicy. I got a lot of ulcers in my mouth. lol.

I prefer limes. Then I can make margaritas. :P

tinyfaery's avatar

No. I ask my wife to make lemonade, or lemon tart, or lemon pie. If I tried, it would not be good.

shego's avatar

@tinyfaery don’t say that. I also use lemons to put highlights in my hair during the spring an summer.

tinyfaery's avatar

Trust me. I cannot cook.

shego's avatar

Well, I can send you some easy simple recipes, that I use. And they are healthy ones too.

I try to make the best of a bad situation, but I don’t think I’m very successful. Sometimes I have been—like getting fired and then getting a much better job. Over the last couple of years, I found out I had a brain chemistry disorder. Part of it left me so depressed, I had a hard time imagining going on with life.

I don’t know if I can make lemonade out of bipolar disorder. I keep on wondering if there is a silver lining in here, somewhere. It has made me feel my emotions more deeply. Some people might say that is good. I can cry much more easily now. Some would think that is a good thing. I understand depression now, and I never did before. Maybe I’m more empathetic.

But it also leaves me obsessed with issues related to mental health. I hardly talk about anything else. It has damaged an already shaky sense of self-worth. It leaves me feeling empty and unsure of how to deal with that. Sometimes making really big mistakes in trying to feel worth anything.

I don’t know. Maybe I’m a bad cook. Seems to me that it’s awfully hard to make lemonade out of some ingredients.

I squirt the lemons into the eyes of whoever gave me them. Then I’d uses the remains to flavour my coke.

I love lemons, nothing wrong with lemons. So yes, you go make lemonade and then try and pick oranges instead. The whole trick is to try and find some sugar to make the lemonade sweeter. So, instead of complaining about how bitter lemons are, look for the sugar ;)
