What's a southland equivalent to the Guardian?

I’ve always appreciated the San Francisco Bay Guardian‘s endorsements on political issues… I tend to agree with about 90% of them and enjoy the straightforward reasoning. Is there a newspaper in LA that’s analogous?

The L.A. Weekly is your best bet.

It’s owned by the Village Voice so, technically, it’s the mortal enemy to the Guardian, but it’s LA’s biggest alt-weekly.
