What are the disadvantages to buying a flash unit without an LCD screen on the back?

Asked by Fallstand (1130points) October 29th, 2009

Im looking to buy a few units as slave flashes for real estate photography, basically to use them wirelessly to light a room. However I’m unsure of what information is actually displayed on the LCDs of the more expensive and newer flashes.

Information might include power level, zoom, Exposer Compesation, Guide number, Autofocus Assist Illuminator On/ Off. Auxiliary light on/off.

The info displayed isn’t really what you should care about. Only the higher end flashes can act as Commander units, to control the other flashes. This is critical if you are going to have a multi-flash setup. At least one of your units will end up costing you $300+. The other flashes need to be able to work on a stand wirelessly as slaves.
