Can I take my Realistic PRO-2050 Scanner to Radio Shack for Programming?

Asked by majorrich (14741points) November 1st, 2009

My Brother is sending me a Scanner. It came from Radio Shack. back in the ‘80’s or 90’s I would guess. Would the guys at the Shack know the interesting channels to put in there and how to do it? The boy there mentioned hooking it up to a computer. That would make it very easy.My world is shrinking a bit and I crave more information.

it couldn’t hurt to take it in and ask, or even call before hand. the worst that could happen is they’d say no.

Google has a wide range of channel codes , you could find your area and insert the codes you want .

Doug mentioned they had some kind of database they hook it up to and load. Perhaps by now might be able to download it and burn an EEPROM of aomething like that. I have an older scanner but it no longer picks up the police frequencies.
