Is the Trans-Siberian Orchestra appropriate for a nine year old?

Asked by brinibear (1388points) November 1st, 2009

Well, I came across some TSO tickets, and I want to take my parents and my little sister. But I was wondering if it is appropriate for a nine year old. What do you think?

Absolutely, in my opinion. The earlier you can introduce different styles to children, the better. I guess it depends on how patient and interested you think your little sister might be during the show.

It’s music. You are never too young for music. Besides, there are no lyrics, so there can be nothing innappropriate.

Well, I have shown it to her on youtube, and she seems very excited. It is both of our first time going to a concert.

I don’t see anything wrong with it, especially if it encourages a love for classical music. Or music, in general.

TSO seems like it would be lots of fun in concert. Let us know how it goes. :)

Sure, as long as you’re sure she’s able to behave properly and not bug the people around her.

Oooooo @brinibear you’re going too? Sounds like so much fun. Maybe we can meet. I just can’t wait till Tuesday. But I think it is a great idea for you to take your sister.

Heck yeah.. never too young to be introduced to different styles of music. I went to my first symphony in SF when I was in the 3rd grade. It was great and I still love going to the symphony.

And.. TSO is awesome. The 9-year-old might rather enjoy the drama of it. :)

Sure! Just make sure you have hearing protection! A coworker of mine went a couple years back and said it was a very loud show.

OMG! I just now got home, it is almost 2 am. The concert was awesome. My sister enjoyed it too. She even got to meet the performers. She was on her best behavior. If you have a chance to go and see them, do. It was so much fun. The story part was kinda boring, but the music totally made up for it, and the effects did too.

@brinibear I’m so sorry that I didn’t have a chance to meet you. There were so many people there. But I agree, That was excellent. The music and the effects were just so “wow”
To everybody out there, it is amazing. if you can see it, you should. they changed the lighting, and it will put you in awe. The set up that they are using is brand new.

@shego I was there with @brinibear and her li’l sis. What a wonderful concert. Although I would not consider myself a big fan, I think it’s great what they did combining the different musical genres. And the effects! I’ve been watching the evolution of light shows and related effects since the ‘60;s, and I was impressed.

I thought the musical highlight of the evening, besides Nutrocker, besides the guitar duel, besides many others, was the arrangement of The Marriage of Figaro!!

When the 9 yo was meeting the performers, she was asked what part of the show she thought was the best. She said she couldn’t decide, because it was all so good!

@Yetanotheruser I am such a huge fan, and I didn’t know you could meet the performers. I didn’t do that. Really! Oh, I might not have been paying attention.
