Has anyone had experience with shoes like MBTs or FitFlops?

Asked by Likeradar (19583points) November 2nd, 2009

I’m thinking about getting a pair of those shoes that claim to help tone your butt and legs just by walking, like MBT, Fit Flops, or those new Reebok Easytone shoes.

I’m a big skeptic about the claims made in the ads, so I’m wondering if anyone has ever worn them and what results you got, if any.

I’d like to get the Sketchers Shape Ups and did want the MBT’s too…

I’ve heard good and bad reviews from real live people. I’m curious by nature and have asked wearers what they thought of them @Likeradar. One lady swore by her MBT’s and said they reduced lower back pain she was experiencing…but a couple others thought they didn’t do much at all.

I’m hoping some Flutherites have in depth opinions here. Any of them are pretty expensive if you wind up not liking them

BTW- I haven’t tried the Fit Flops, but I do have these Yoga Sandals I live in them & love them! I’ll definitely buy them again and again.

I have some MBTs in a box ready to be sent for resoling. I wore them out in less than a year with a LOT of walking.

I had shin splints that would not heal. After a month with the MBTs the shinsplints were gone. I can’t speak to the toning claim (kind of doubt it actually) but they are hugely comfortable.

no, sandals and flip flops gross me out.

@JONESGH One of the 3 examples I gave has a fliop flop option. Thanks though…

@Likeradar my bad, I should’ve paid more attention..

All I can donate to this thread is how disastrously ugly those shoes are. For the price they better do wonders for your health, because they’re certainly not helping with your sex life.

@RedMosquitoMM They’d help my sex life if the improved my tone without my need to pound my husband instead of the treadmill ;D They are not pretty, that’s why I have trouble shelling out the dough. It’s not like I’d wear ‘em for a night out on the town.

Good point. Vanity is a curse anyway :P

Well if we’re talking sex appeal, they do make a guy a couple of inches taller. And that, I think the guys will agree, appeals to the ladies.

Then again, your shoes may look like clown apparel – which just makes you a TALL clown. And we all know the taller the clown, the creepier the clown. How’s that for sex appeal?

(amm.: No offense to clowns. It’s an admirable profession. I’m all for people who try to lighten the mood.)

I’ll stick to my guns. A tall clown gets more play than an average one. A tall nerd does better than a mesomorph. And tall dark and handsome does ok, too.

@6rant6 Until they wear MBTs that is.

@RedMosquitoMM lurve! A guy in MBT’s would not be a good look!
