Announced: Final iTV product, universal remote control, integration with Front Row/iTunes/iPhoto. New displayes with iSights built in. iPods look the same but have slightly larger hard drives. Leopard release date but not final version. NOT announced: Cell phone, video iPod (guess what--those designs were for the iTV remote!).

In order to upgrade to Leopard (now I have Macos10.4.8 -powerPC-G4- which is a joy)I would have to buy their new desktop computer w. two Intel chips. They will no longer have automatic dial-up either and require another $50 for the gadget necessary. Is it worth it or should I wait until bugs are ironed out of Leopard?

Us rural folks can get only DSL and are captive to one phone co., which has some bugs of its own.

Not so. If you can run 10.4 on your current computer it has the muscle to run 10.5. I expect Leopard to run fine on my G4. It's true you need to pay extra for a regular modem these days. If your phone company provides DSL is it possible to get a router from them that utilizes ethernet or 802.11 wireless? Those features come built in to new macs.

Please define ethernet & 802.11 (or I can Google after tomorrow). I am low on the learning curve. Phone Co.folks are either in Lahore or local rubes like me...probably the oldest person on Fluther, also. The technological jargon is getting ahead of me..and makes me want to learn Coptic or Aramaic instead.

I would be slightly worried about running Leopard on a G4. You can definitely do it, but it might be a tad slow... but it's too soon to tell how much of a hit you would take.

I do think an Apple cell phone will come to market eventually. But maybe not in January

Bob, when will I be able to find out "how much of a hit" I would take w. G4 and Leopard? And how would I do that. My guru says that I should prob. face buying a new computer. Right now, Tiger and OS w. latest patches run really fast for dial-up. People around here hate their DSL service..

I don't know much about Leopard, but all the features haven't been made public yet. Some of the features they haven't announced might be more or less difficult to run on your system. We'll probably find out after it comes out and people try to run it on those systems.

50" Monitors my ass. The rumor mill is insane.

Well intel is coming out with a quadcore chip so I say that Apple will have a MacPro with a quadcore that will make your G4 look like your mom's G3 Burlapmellish. That and of couse iTV.

I am also going to say that they will give all MacBooks a speed bump. Then maybe I can replace my broke ass G4 Powerbook

My mom has a Core Duo.

Looks like iWork '07 will be announced too. But only Matt cares about that.

I just saw a rumor that the iDisk space with the .mac account will be increased to 30Gigs

I'm feeling now (with 1 day to go) that "OS X Lite" is going to be the big deal of the keynote. A competitor for Palm OS and Windows Mobile. OS X lite could power phones, ipods, iTV, an Apple Home Server. It could be the beginning attack on the living room...

And I'm 100% wrong on everything. Sorry there was no iPoop this year, b.
