What's your favorite local "hole in the wall" restaurant?

Asked by buckyboy28 (4961points) November 3rd, 2009

For me, it is Clyde’s Roadhouse in Walpole, Massachusetts. If you are ever in the Boston area, you have to check it out!

They have a burger called the Bleu Cadillac which is an angus burger with bleu cheese and grilled onions. Absolutely incredible!

We have a lovely little Afghan restaurant in a strip mall near us. It is tucked away in the corner, and hard to find, but well worth the trouble.

@Likeradar can attest to this, Pizza Casbah in Fort Collins, CO is amazing.

And right next to that is The Pickle Barrel, which has great sandwiches and some of the best local beer I’ve ever had.

The Hotdogger is one of my favorites. It’s this super tiny place downtown. Inside there’s enough room for two people to sit and (maybe) two people to stand. Lines usually form outside.
I’ve been going to this place since I could eat solid food and they make some of the best hot dogs I’ve ever had.
See how tiny it is.. .. and yes, it really is owned by the Franks’.

Annie’s Clark Brunch in Worcester, MA. You can stuff yourself for $5 if you know what to order, and there’s no way you could possibly spend more than $10, even if you tried. Don’t know how they stay afloat! Annie is by far the best short order cook I’ve ever encountered.

@Allie I wonder if they will get put out of business by a “handicap access” lawsuit like my favorite tiny hamburger restaurant did here in Sacramento.

I love Reid’s. It’s just a rundown little hot dog & hamburger place. It’s ridiculously cheap and has very fast service. What I love the most is that they have their own lingo. They have this special sauce that can be added to burgers and fries. So if u want that special sauce on your burger, fries, and you want a plan onion ring, you say cheeseburger sauce, fry sauce, ring. It’s great! It took me awhile to get it down. And out of towner’s are really lost at first!

I wouldn’t want to eat in a restaurant that has a hole in a wall. That just shows me that they’re too lazy/cheap to do some repair work.

Fat Moe’s in Sarnia, Ont. Cheap beer, good burgers, horrid decorating and a friendly staff.

Thank you, I’ll be here all week

@PretentiousArtist Where’s your sense of adventure?

Texas Tavern – the name makes no sense for where it is, though. It has been around for decades and is a tiny little white building tucked in downtown. Inexpensive dogs, burgers and chili. You can get onions, relish, and mustard – but ask for ketchup and they just might toss you out. (Kidding, they’re nice, but they really don’t have ketchup or mayonnaise.)

The Night Hawk. It is just a greasy spoon with a big bar in back. I used to live 4 blocks away and I pretty much ate there everyday. I could get a big cheeseburger and fries for $3.25.

They haven’t opened a Hole in the Wall here in Sacramento.

I’m not much on chain restaurants anyway.

There is a pizza place outside of Pittsburgh called Vincents. Like nothing else in this world. My parents gave my brother the middle name of Vincent because they loved it so much.

I love the Beach Boy burger at the Burger Barge in East Peoria, IL. It’s topped with fried cheese nuggets, salsa, sautéed onions, and guacamole. Yum!

Zaraco’s in West Harrison, Indiana. Used to be a Big Boy years ago, and a family bought it and made it a great family restaurant.

Homemade pies to die for!

There’s this little coffee shop in Lihue, Kauai called the Tip Top Cafe. It’s nothing fancy but they have these incredible banana and macadamia nut pancakes.
