What do you think about Seasame Street making fun of Fox News?

Asked by patg7590 (4608points) November 6th, 2009

The Obama administration has taken cracks at Fox News now even Sesame Street

Most people can admit Fox is pretty biased, are they too biased to be taken seriously at all? Are they really unfit to be considered alongside reputable news media as the Obama administration claims? Why or Why not?

The Daily show sums it up nicely.

It was TWO YEARS AGO. Cripes. Time to get over it. What they’re talking about now is a rerun.

No one cared two years ago. NO ONE. But now, Fox and the Conservatives have already got their panties in a bunch about the White House’s supposed “attack” on them, so they’re going to cry for mommy over every little thing. Including a TWO YEAR OLD rerun of a children’s show.

Two years old?
At that time was it even politically motivated?

As long as Fox News puts on commentators such as Glen Beck and act as if they are serious journalists, Sesame Street should make fun of it, and so should everyone else.

Citing Media Matters on the Fox News topic is akin to asking a vegetarian to taste test a hamburger. The burger might be frozen lips and bungholes or made from Kobe beef, but you’ll never know for sure due to the reviewer’s bias.

The Pew Research Center released an interesting poll recently. It showed Fox News as the most idealogical of the networks, which is what’s got everyone in a twist, of course.

But notice all the other networks mentioned? And how they all uniformly are perceived to lean left/liberal. In a way, might it be considered that Fox News is attempting to make up for the “equal time” the other networks apparently aren’t doing.

Also of interest to me is not the farthest point (right or left) but the inside graph portion for the opposite political view. If I read it right, that could be considered the network’s attempted at “equal time”. Now, see how Fox News gets a “14” for left/liberal bias… which is tied with ABC and CBS whereas CNN, MSNBC, and NBC only got “11”.

My $0.02. I think journalism is failing the test across the board. Cable, network, local news doesn’t matter. There’s a fundamental shift away from finding the facts. It’s all about hit-whoring to drive traffic/advertising.

That, and never trust nifty-looking charts with statistical breakdowns of opinion.

@robmandu I could not agree more with your $0.02. They all now have and angle and an agenda they are pushing.

I love it. I think that only Fox News would get pissed about it because of the idiocy and obstinacy of the network and viewers. You see CNN being parodied, but you don’t see them screeching. I think that its the nature of this “news” network to blow anything and everything out of proportion and to increase their victim status however possible. Its stupid, its immature, its typical.

Due to the things that are typical, the extreme bias, the lack of attention to truth and fact finding (much less fact reporting), and everything else, they are indeed unfit to be considered a news network. Those in the journalistic world have considered it unfit to be considered news for many, many years.

Their motto is the biggest joke and the definition of irony. What’s sad is that some people actually believe it. When you descend that far into fear-mongering and the other crap that these people get into, they have no right to be anywhere near reputable news networks. Its like getting Pam Anderson to negotiate peace in the middle east. No way qualified (or necessary) to be around doing that job that she’s incapable of doing.

Kind of reminds me of that time in February when a bunch of kids sang a song that included Barack Obama, without incident..
and then 5 month later or so, Fox made a big stink about it.

Funny thing.. I just got a “survey” that asked things like “Do you support the health care plan that Democrats like Pelosi support that might potentially lead to death panels?” I said yes. So there. This is the same kind of crap that Fox News does to try and frighten the American public into blindly following the Republican agenda. The recording spit out the phone number, but no names, really quickly at the end and I didn’t have anything to write with or else I would have called them back and found out who sponsored this fear-mongering crap.

@doggywuv Could I delete my reply? I don’t feel really comfortable with it.

The conservatives need to man up. Douche Loosebowels has always been a joke, as has most of the talking heads on Faux News. So a kiddy show parodies them, what, they are so weak they can’t accept that? Bunch of wussies.
