Do you like rain?

Asked by kcmyl (19points) November 10th, 2009

Rain supports life but there are things that only go well when there is no rain. You can like rain but can you like rain on your wedding day? I find that liking rain or not tells a little about someone.

Yes. Do you?

I love it. I have skylights in my livingroom and I love it when the rain pelts down whilst I’m sitting on my sofa drinking a cup o’ hot joe.

I like the moments right before a big rain storm. I feel the temperature drop and the wind picks up and swirls around me, I can see the dark clouds rolling in, and I feel the first raindrops hit my face. It is as close to a spiritual experience as I get, I like to stand in my yard and just experience it. It is the most calming and relaxing moment I can imagine.

mcbealer's avatar

Yes! I love most weather events really, well except hot humid hazy. I particularly love thunder and snow storms.

Right now, I am excited because it is supposed to rain here tomorrow and I have the day off… so I’m planning to spend part of my day looking out the window, admiring the rain.

I also love when it rains in the forest, so beautiful!

evegrimm's avatar

I do, I do!

It doesn’t rain very much where I live (Southwest US), so it’s a treat when it does.

I love the smell of wet desert and wet wood. And wet creosote. Mmmm…

Also, we have amazing thunder + lightning storms. Beautiful!

I love rain. I love the feel of rain in the air, but that has not yet arrived. I love the feel of rain on my face, on my tongue, in my hair.

mclaugh's avatar

I love rain! Especially kissing in it. :)

Call me weird but i prefer a nice cloudy rainy day over a bright sunny day. So yes i loves me some rain :)

wilma's avatar

I do like rain.
But not always.
I love a good thunder storm, or a gentle rain for sleeping.
The only time I really don’t like it is when I have to drive in it, or it has gone on for days, and days. Then I need some sunshine and to be able to dry my clothes on the line outside.

casheroo's avatar

No. I dislike getting wet and I really hate humidity.

reacting_acid's avatar

@OutOfTheBlue I totally agree with you. I love cloudy days that are just drizzling with rain. Sunny days are great but rainy days are better

tedibear's avatar

I like a good thunderstorm unless a tree branch come through the wall like happened last summer so I can watch the changing sky and the lightning.

I like the plain old rain for when I’m sitting on the couch with a book and a cat. Or for napping.

I live in the dessert, so I consider the rain a major blessing/miracle sent from above.

deni's avatar

Yes, but I prefer snow. Or, well, I suppose I like rain as much as snow EXCEPT if it is cold, windy, and raining. That’s the worst.

cyn's avatar

I meant dessert covered in sand.

Iclamae's avatar

I love the rain and I just moved out to the desert, so I’m missing it terribly. Will have to soak it all up when I visit home.

And I agree about raining constantly. When we would have a week of rain, it would remind of the Ray Bradbury story, “The Long Rain.” It really is enough to drive someone crazy.

MacBean's avatar

I love rain mainly because I love clouds. Sunny, cloudless skies make me anxious.

gemiwing's avatar

I absolutely love rain. I like everything about it- except for when it hits the back of my neck. eek! Hubbs and I sit in the living room with our windows open and just relax. Some nice music on and a few good books- plus snuggles? Pure heaven.

I like certain types of rain. On a summer day, a good rainfall is the perfect excuse to jump in mud puddles and run around getting soaking wet. Some of the best fun I’ve had with my kids is playing in the rain!

Thunder storms with torrential rain are very exciting to me. You know, when the rain is pounding so hard that it looks like it’s jumping off the ground, the gutters are overflowing, the thunder makes the house shake, and the lights flicker and threaten to go out. I’ve always loved big storms, even as a kid in the midwest when the threat of tornadoes had my mom making us hide in the closet under the stairs. We colored all over the walls in there with crayons, so it was like a secret fort for my brother and me.

Cold, drizzly, windy rain is not fun. Rain on days or nights when I want my hair to look nice is not fun. The slightest bit of humidity or rain kills my good hair days. Pouring rain when you have a cartload of groceries and three kids to load into the car is not fun.

So I guess I like rain only when it is convenient for me.

RedPowerLady's avatar

I love rain. Now that does not mean that is always convenient, lol. But neither is hot weather, ugh. I prefer rain to be honest.

Also I heard someone say something beautiful once in regards to rain. It was after some type of horrible national tragedy. She was speaking outside (under an awning) and it started to rain. And she said she was glad it was raining. That our Earth and our society needed a good cleansing right now. It made so much sense to me. I often remember that when it rains. I know I’ve walked in the rain when feeling bad just to feel myself “cleansed” by it.

Of course your point is good as well and I think of that often too. That it nourishes the earth.

And I also enjoy the white noise created by rain. Oh and the smell!
Not to mention thunderstorms. I like rain when it is drizzling or pouring. All types.

Yes.

Yay! A great song about rain!

Thank you, Blossom, and RIP.

Rain, snow and fog are my favorite. I’m much like @mcbealer. I love most weather events with the exception of hot, humid, cloudless days. I tend to get very depressed if it’s sunny for a week or longer.

ItalianPrincess1217's avatar

I love it. And I’m shocked that so many others do! I thought I was just strange.

iRemy_y's avatar

I love rain! and as long as its not cold or windy, and we’re prepared for it, then a wedding in the rain would be nice.

shego's avatar

I love the rain, as long as I don’t see a funnel cloud sitting over my house.

mcbealer's avatar

@shego ~ yes, especially when the sky gets yellow in the summertime… ominous!

shego's avatar

@mcbealer I get a funky baby poopie green out here. I don’t like that color. it scare me. I have yet to have a tornado hit my house, but there have been several close calls. I guess that is what happens when you live on the edge of tornado alley.

mcbealer's avatar

oh no…. another poopie green reference on fluther within 24 hours… what could this mean?!?

shego's avatar

@mcbealer I didn’t even think about that.
Well, somebody needs to talk to the creator of the clouds then.
1…2…3… NOT IT!

mattbrowne's avatar

Occasionally.

forestGeek's avatar

Haha, I had better like rain since I live in Seattle! Sometimes when we get rain for a week straight it’s becomes a bit much, but then I think about how beautiful and green it is here…
