What's something nice I can do for my long distance girlfriend?

Asked by mineown (438points) November 11th, 2009

My girlfriend lives in Florida, and she is at this military boarding school until January. We communicate by writing letters because that’s all she can do there. I want to do something really nice for her, but I don’t have any good ideas. What can I do for her thats nice and sweet?

Can you send her flowers?

Can you send her food (like cookies or chocolates)?

What are the rules at the school she’s at?

Send flowers..or send her an email with a home-made video.

I’m not sure, but I sent her some coloring books (i know, lol) at her request a couple months ago.

She can’t do anything on the computer.

aww. that would make things a lot easier =(

If money’s not an issue, you could send her a digital photo frame of pictures of the two of you and other things she loves already downloaded on it.

Or even a scrapbook or collage would be really nice.

Send her some food. Order from a restaurant and surprise her. Don’t forget the dessert.

Nice pens and stationary along with stamps so she can keep the letters coming your way…also some recent photos of things you are seeing around town that you can’t wait to do with her!

I bought heart shaped baking cups for like $8 at a craft store, and so far since September, my boyfriend has gotten heart shaped chocolate chip cookies, heart shaped peanut butter cookies, brownies, pumpkin chocolate chip muffins, and banana chocolate chip muffins… all heart shaped.

I also crocheted him a few things, but I guess you can’t really do that lol

My man! I go to school in Alabama and have a girlfriend who’s at Ohio State. 2 weeks ago I sent a dozen roses to her dorm through 1-800-flowers.com. I would highly recommend them, the flowers were perfect and shipping went smothly. My girlfriend was extremely excited when she got them out of the blue.

It sounds like a good idea, but idk if its allowed. thats to the cookies and flowers. im not trying to be difficult but idk. flowers are probably ok, but it sounds expensive. But I REALLY like this girl.

I’ll bet she would love to receive a series of letters, postcards, photos, etc from you via the mail…I mean who wouldn’t love that??? Even if you write a poem, drew her a picture and/or took a special photo for her, and sent something like that one or twice a week, she’d know that you are thinking a lot about her and it’s from the heart.

Well actually, I already include pictures i draw and color and poems with most of my letters that I send her.

@mineown What are her interests? If she likes doing ny kind of art, most supplies are cheap enough to buy and send to her.

Send her photos by mobile upload on your phone to her e-mail whenever you see something nice. I know this sounds simple but it lets her know you are thinking of her at the moment.

If you want to do something different…..go to a place called “Edible Arrangements”. They make these amazing bouquets of fruit….they cut the fruit out to be like flowers…so they look like a large vase of flowers…but they are fruit! They also have arrangements of chocolate-covered strawberries…yum yum. They have a website. Google “Edible Arrangements” and they are a national chain so they can deliver to most places.

One very, very simple and romantic gift is this….go purchase a nice sized trinket or small decorated box (6×6 inches or so) at a gift shop. Get some notebook paper. Cut the paper into small strips, following the lines, with scissors. On each little strip, write one reason that you love her….and start each one, “I love you because you are thoughtful,” “I love you because you have a beautiful smile,” ” I love you because you make the best pineapple upside-down cake in the world,” ” I love you because you are a great softball player,” etc. Try to think of at least….30–40 things…from silly things to really nice things. (What you may want to do is write out everything and then put the slips in a plastic bag and go shopping with the bag so you can make sure you get a box that the little papers will fit in. Make sure that you fold up each little paper!)

Then, send the box to her with a note that says….“Whenever you wonder why I love you so much….or you need some cheering up….just open the box and read one of the reasons I am so happy you are in my life.”

Hope these help….:)

Surprise her. Show up in Florida and spend together her spare-time in the weekend or whatsoever.
