Do K&N air filters really help with economy?

Asked by heyu1021 (262points) February 12th, 2008 from iPhone

I’m interested in buying a filter (not cold air intake) but I want to know if it’s worth the $50? I have a 07 sentra by the way.

Yes I have put them on my two trucks and my car and notice a difference. The bigger the gas guzzler it is the better it does. Most importantly you get more horsepower. That’s the bigger plus… Now my trucks perform better. The more air you take in the better performance you get.

I agree with gooch. I’ve put one in my 10 year old blazer and seen much better gas mileage and response in the throttle. I’ve also got one in my motorcycle and it seems to be just fine as well. Just be sure you maintain it as instructed.

Just be careful. Because I used a non- Mopar air filter in my Dodge Turbo diesel truck Dodge voided my warranty when my turbo went out. It cost me $2000 out of pocket to replace the turbo.
